Jim Callender has worked in the web and new media industry since 1998. He has researched, designed and produced a variety of web based projects, for a wide range of clients including government, public, private and voluntary sector organisations.

Freelance Web Developer (May 2005 - Present Day)

  • In freelance Web design/development roles for companies in London and South East England.
  • Search Engine Optimisation Consultant (SEO) and Freelance Web Developer
  • Promotion of own business in the web community and created self promotion of skills and services of bespoke web solutions offered.
  • Project management of initial enquiries to after sales solutions of web packages.

Volunteering and travelling in India (Nov 2004 - Apr 2005)

LexisNexis UK (Apr 2001 - Nov 2004), Web Designer

  • Coding html to W3C standards ensuring compatibility with different browsers.
  • Working closely with customers, developers & designers to produce the best possible implementation of any web project. Communicated design concepts to these clients.
  • Quality control, training & support of external freelance resources to guarantee desired levels of compliance.
  • Regularly working on concept designs & corporate branding.

  • Correlated & verified technical information & communicative style in test procedures written by engineers & technical writers. Improved & streamlined operating procedures within the department.
  • Developed & maintained both internet & intranet sites with exposure to design side, using Photoshop, dreamweaver > Authoring, testing & FTP bug-fixing code.
  • Software installation & configuration - From server & CD Rom. MS operating system software - 95, 98, 2000 pro, NT, Office 2000, drivers for printers, palmtops, wireless devices.
  • Management - of time schedule, training new employees & liaising with off site engineers.
