Accessibility Standards & Consultancy

Web accessibility refers to the practice of making pages on the Internet accessible to all users, especially those with disabilities.

Accessibility Standards imageAccessibility comes built in to sites I make, as I use compliant code in web pages which is well-structured and semantic meaning that it follows the current accessibilty standards set by the W3C.org's Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI).

Accessible web designers create, design, and develop or write the technology for websites that work on 'most' browsers and computers. A good sign of an experienced web developer are the ones who have accessible websites themselves, like this one.

By developing accessible web pages means they are accessible across the widest range of modern browsers, also mobile phones, PDA's and for future generation browsers.

I can carry out a site analysis for you website if you already have one, to check the web pages conform to the current guidelines, I can also recommend best practices to make you web pages very accessibile for all 'human' visitors as well as search engines. Resulting in an enhanced presence on the web. Contact me about Accessibility Consultancy.

Organisations that promote accessible web design are the Royal National Institute of the Blind (RNIB) and WAI. This is how I keep up to date with current legislation and guidelines for accessible web sites.
